The Best Walks

That’s the question that always arises at the end of the week – which was the best walk? And there is never total agreement on the answer.

Puffin on Rathlin Island, Co Antrim Jordi on the stones at Giant's Causeway, Co.AntrimThe magnificent Causeway Coast walk is very often mentioned and many people love the excursion to Rathlin Island and seeing the puffins with the RSPB volunteers. These are also the first impressions of the week and stick in the mind.

On top of Slieve LeagueBut it’s hard to dislodge the Slieve League walk in Donegal from first place. It’s another great coastal walk along the highest sea cliffs in Europe – best walk in Ireland some say – and contrasts in its rawness and wildness with the Antrim Coast.

Yet again people have mentioned the visit to Derry, UK City of Culture 2013, as the most memorable event of the week.

Group on Antrim coast with Rathlin Island on the horizonAs for me I have my own favourite but I’m not telling!!
What I’m looking forward to this year, apart from the great variety of the Walks, is the great variety of the people who join us. New meetings, new friends and new stories to brighten 2012. Happy Days!
