Day 5

Explore the Glen by ascending to Glen Head and on to the Martello Tower. This is one of the many towers built on prominent headlands at the turn of the 19th century to guard against a Napoleonic invasion which never came. During this walk you will experience some of the most dramatic cliff scenery anywhere. We will also overlook Glencolmcille and the thatched cottages of the folk village. En route we will visit some of the ancient pilgrimage stations of St. Colmcille, with their beautifully inscribed stones.
